The Second Ecstasy!!

On 30th of September, our complete class was glued to every news channel possible in TV. Not because every one of us, was interested in the verdict. Our chance of going for IV had been decided by it. But as expected, our IV cancelledMy family was really perplexed and to a bit startled by my eagerness to go for the IV. Our first IV experience has fuelled us with complete enthusiasm to take the flight!!

But how are they supposed to know what the days had in store for us, when we thyself didn’t know it??!! Thanks to our organizers ( divya, dev, arun, RC)who made our iv possible again…!!

Simply put, I could say, the IV was memorable. But does it suffice to express our experience?? an absolute no.

Contrary to its name, our real industrial visit was only for a day. We found ourselves every possible place around our epicenter (industry) to visit!! But the fact to be accepted is that our IV’s enthralled us in its own way. Second one in no way replicated the previous!!

The first day was a complete balance between fun and boredom. The science museum we visited the fore noon gave us a chance to experience different, new things. The one close to my heart was the live weather telecast. And the afternoon enabled us to window shopping in the malls and experience Bangalore!!

Hindustan Unilever provided us with immense knowledge and ample food. Karnataka soaps gave us the real feel of an industry. And the evening was marked by the visit to ISKON temple. The most memorable thing about our visit there was going around and around the temple with my friends to get back our cameras after a miniscule altercation with an old man over there. Wonder la was our next hide-out. The rides were truly magnificent and terrific. Our friends had their happiest moments in pools and some people completely forgot what they’re doing or what they’re up to doing!!

Biding bye to wonder la, we started for Coorg and it was here the real fun started. The falls and forests gave a chance for our camera to click infinite times. Buddhist monastery alias the golden temple was truly exhilarating!!With the final day in Mysore, we had a complete tour package with all the essential elements for fun and frolic!!

The things to be pondered over this IV are many.

I found myself eating ‘Little hearts’ at the midst of the night unknowingly during sleep!!

My innumerous tries to introduce Sophie( Sruti’s Teddy) to this world, all of which failed and I just ended up running all around the lobby, laughing like a fool and at last sneaking into mam’s room.

Being bitten by leeches I Was bewitched to see our friends bleeding without pain.

Dancing like robot in our camp fire which really fetched me a wide variety of responses.

Being nicknamed as ,‘Photo pisasu’ by sandy for incessantly clicking my camera and capturing many precious moments.

The one which will top the list is our dance show. People unleashed themselves and we were able to see terrific dancers in everyone. Every Jodi had their style!!

And it doesn’t end there. The after effects are much interesting… running behind every one who had camera, for our pictures, burning the midnight oil to upload pics in face book , commenting on every possible picture and being mocked for having taken pics with x( name not mentioned since everyone know).

With our cherishing moments coming to an end, we head back to our college which is waiting for us to open our books!! :)

SMC-MUN: Being an Egyptian

United Nations

Whenever I come across the word, It has meant power and magnificence to me. With its monumental presence in neighborhood of Manhattan, besides East river, I could see what happens inside only in a translucent light.

But an appetite to know more about my world, its people and their problems pushed me to go for Model United Nations held at Stella Maris, Chennai. Luckily I was selected as a delegate of GA (General Assembly) to represent Egypt. I was perplexed initially, as I wasn’t aware enough of the affairs of Egypt. As always, the World Wide Web gave me a helping hand and I started out to become an Egyptian.

As a delegate of Egypt, I was present in model united nations (MUN). When I was still in the awe of being at Stella for the first time, I couldn’t arrest myself from the amazement of watching my fellow delegates!!

Students were flowing from all over the nation, making Stella bustling. The ease, with which some people carried themselves, clearly indicated that they aren’t there in MUN for the first time. After the orientation, MUN kicked off with its delegates energized enough for their diplomatic war.

To be simple, in GA we spoke on World Hunger. Every nation has to present its stand, and debate over its definition, causes, effects and solutions. We may have a good expertise in debating with our friends on most issues. But given the role of the delegate( the representative of the nation) , one should consider their country’s scenario, its foreign policies, friendly-nations, accuracy of the factual data one presents, the task ahead of you is daunting !!

On the first day, it was a learning experience for the first timers. I was glad, when I spoke for Egypt on the first day!! Time flew by and resolutions were passed. During our second resolution, I completely understood the vitality of majority. The resolution prepared by African Union failed by want of single vote. It was then I realized why the UPA govt. was charged for bribing the BJP M.P, to vote in favor of The Nuclear bill.

The crisis situation which was brought about absolutely thrilled me.

Africa under siege. Mexico in anarchy. China attacked. Barack Obama assassinated and Columbian pop singer Shakira died in a bomb blast in US, conspired by china. To be short, Third world war is to start.

When everyone were amazed, dumbfound and terrified, the Columbian delegate asked his Chinese counterpart, to dance for any Shakira’s song to mourn her demise and to enable her soul to rest in peace. When they did dance for ‘Waka Waka’, the whole assembly blew out in laughter which is beyond words!!

Third day was more formal and we ended the session by debating on the role of donor nations in WFP. The other interesting happening was describing each delegate in a single word, where I was named the lively one!!!

These three days really did have a profound effect in my persona.

I was glad that my first public speaking went good, but also, had a chance to assess myself with students of our age. I felt embarrassed when I came o know how bad I’m in geography, by admitting that Ecuador is in Africa, when it’s really in America!! It gave a chance for me to wonder how good people are in expressing themselves. I was really spellbound by the accent of our Chair ( Suryadeep Seal) and the commanding prowess and impeccable English of our Director ( Rasika Venkat).

With so many new friends, my first MUN gave me an experience cherishing enough, filled with enduring memories!! Teeming with confidence, I’m yearning for my next MUN!!!

A meet with the winners!! - An evening well spent

The awe of IIM inspires everyone. I am not the odd man out. I have always exclaimed, “What it takes to be in IIM? How do these people differ from us??” Every MBA aspirant in India would have raised these question at least once. But I was fortunate enough to meet two of the most successful IIM-A alumnus.

That Saturday evening was perfect in every way. With cool breeze from Marina, I was in Landmark, Citi centre for the second book launch, “Connecting the dots” by Rashmi Bansal. The launch was presided over by Orchid chemicals CEO, Mr. Raghavendra Rao and Hot Breads founder, Mr.Mahadevan.

Only by that afternoon I had finished Ms.Bansal’s first book, “Stay hungry and stay foolish. The achievements of those magnificent entrepreneurs made my way for attending a book launch, for the first time.

It was a different experience on its own. I was completely overwhelmed to be surrounded by people of an illustrious career and a magnanimous knowledge. When these persons spoke, they sounded humble and considerate, which people like us have to learn. Their persona clearly depicted that it was not lady luck that made them what they are today.

I was personally more influenced by Mr. Rao. He’s the man, who has built a $300 million pharma company out of his own passion and perseverance. This man just not inspires, but stimulate you to tread your own path. My heart beat harder and quicker just being beside him, speaking on my ideas and goals. That explains the awe I was in.

Follow your dream with passion. Go behind excellence. Success will follow you.

These were the simple words uttered by Aamir Khan in 3 idiots. These same words enthralled me then; but after confronting these SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS it has enslaved me. Such is their cloudless mind, dynamiting attitude and fired instinct.

I am glad that I met them and will always cherish their autographs and photographs; with my mind pursuing my dream incessantly as like them.

Girls are smarter after all!!

I like to dedicate this blog to all those girls who are certainly not dumb.

Are boys the supers or are the girls super dumb?? No one can deny that any boy could pose at least a slightest version of a slighter smile on hearing or calling a girl dumb.Girls are dumb. So goes the myth. Yes some girls are dumb. So do the boys. I wasn’t pushed to write this article as a feminist’s move. I was impelled to do by this advertisement. It hasn’t failed to enthrall millions of boys. But it has refused to respect the mademoiselle.

The portrayal of a girl is so worse that she couldn’t differentiate
a puffed doll with that well planned gentle-man. As a girl to be true, it’s not the girls who are fools in such instances. It’s the guy. The fact is most girls find it the easiest way to fool themselves thereby earning the pride of their boyfriend. So as a chain reaction, he gets her everything she needs in this infinitely inflating society. Safe for her wallet and save for her future.

Gone are the days when women became nurse, not doctors; stenographers, not CEO’s; teachers, not principals. Girls are getting more goals oriented now. The infusion of girls in most great firms is a real time proof for that. It’s not a matter of supremacy over knowledge and power. Men and women are capable of doing different tasks with varying degrees of alacrity. My remonstrance over this issue is to make sure I did my bit as a girl for the 'so called' dumber sex.To further augment my remonstrance I’ve included some of the vital links.

I hope guys break their cocoon of myth and let their mind fly free like a butterfly.

Hear the roar!!

1411 left!!

I am not a great nature enthusiast or an animal lover. When I was aware of the presence of tiger in this world was scarce, my involvement in it was scant. I remember questioning myself what could we do to inhibit its decline?!

I was sure that we aren’t able to do anything to hold tigers back from the poacher’s gun… but my attitude towards tigers isn’t the same after watching this movie, ‘Two Brothers.’ The movies spirit struck me deep. It’s about the two tiger cubs being separated and their reunion. But the film grasps all the horrors of the jungle. It explains the bond of love, friendship, brotherhood in a most striking way.

When I checked out ‘Save our tigers’ website, I was astonished o see how imbecile I am by being dumb. The site gives us a clear view of what happens and what we could make happen. Our voices for them are not audible to people who can enable the change happen. Stricter laws and intensive punishments for the poachers are the need of the hour. What we could do is to build our roars louder and quicker.

The lords of the jungle are out there for our help. We can. We should.

Join the roar!!

THE UNSUNG SYMPHONY-Malevia Einstein

History cannot be rewritten. But history has many rewritten pages. We always see victory in one dimension and believe what we see. And we hardly see through. There may be innumerous people lost in the

chaos and shambles of history to be immortalized. And here is such an unsung symphony.

Albert Einstein, the man who never needs an introduction. Kids always admire him. Scientists ever envy him. And there was a lady who loved him truly and passionately.

Malevia Maric was an exceptionally intelligent girl born in Hungary to prosperous parents. Born with a hip dislocation she was extremely shy but very talented. Her father took immense care in getting her educated. He got her special permission to join the only polytechnic for male students. As expected she topped her class and continued her graduate studies in Zurich, Switzerland.

It was here, where she met her man of love and dreams. They were the only two who opted for theoretical physics. As time passed their dearness endeared. They learnt out of their passion to know more. Class rooms were replaced by their research on multiple facets of physics in parks. They were more passionate on each other and had exchanged names like Johnny and Dolly. But their negligence for class rooms paid. Einstein passed with 4.9 while Malevia failed with 4.

As Einstein was not financially sound, he started to work. His parents rejected Malevia due to various reasons, one not being a Jew. Malevia got pregnant and gave birth to Elsa. She took a re-exam but failed again due to these reasons. Though Einstein could not be with her, she supported her completely by heart. Soon Einstein married Malevia and also had two sons. They spoke, debated and worked on science. Through their relentless work they arrived at the greatest formulae in physics, E =mc2. They got it patented together. But post world war one Malevia’s name was removed and today the complete credit goes to Einstein.

As world wound, Einstein became the legendry scientist and Malevia as a home maker. After 16 yrs of their love for science and themselves, their bond broke. Einstein became too commanding over her and started to treat her not an equal. She was not for a divorce and hence Einstein offered all his proceedings of any possible Nobel Prize to Malevia in return for a divorce. They split and Einstein found a substitute for her but Malevia didn’t. She died alone. And now we know Einstein alone.

As she once said,

“I’m like a shell. The pearl needs the shell to grow, to be protected. But when the pearl is ready to shine it no more needs the shell.”

Holiday Fun!!! (So Intern/In-plant?!)

Intern / In-plant?? These words have surpassed the dominance of songs/ voice messages/ caller tunes. In sharp, they have muted these all time chaos of a college student.

Find a collegiate (possibly not 1st year) at random and pop a question on his holidays. Either his reply must be an in-plant or an internship. Special cases always prevail. Be it a mini project or an amusing vacation!! (Chicks and geeks ever exist).

I’m unclear of calling myself lucky or unlucky. I did both, which gave me a chance to have to varied experiences. Here is my comparison between them.

Internship was really hard to find on first hand and it was even arduous and strenuous to get it. (As you know it’s always tough to put the follow on). The most laboring part was to sustain it. The pitiable fact is I wasn’t paid for the internship!!

But it gave me a greater and deeper insight on recruitment and workplaces. I found how stupid I could sound in interview. Though I’ve attended seminars and workshops on entrepreneurship, working with a start up made me analyze and construe its working. The transparency of the company to an intern illustrated me the hurdles they cross through.

As a stark opposition to my internship my in-plant training was a fun learning time. We went. We ate. We listened/ learned (as it’s always up to us) and we found new friends. I thank the million dollar companies for this great opportunity.

It was a class other than your class room. It was more informative than one could think of. It brushed our basics and enabled us to find if we could see a future in such a company. But in-plant training didn’t live to its name. It was rather an in company training. Though they cited safety reasons for their procedure, I don’t blame them because it was really horrible to roam under hot sun!!

Though both experiences are different it taught me one thing in common. You are here and this is the moment.

Never been treasured!

Never before, my pen has written something of this kind.

Never before, I felt so privileged by my education.

Never before, I treasured my life so much.

That was the day, when I sensed the real importance of being educated. We are here, mourning every day, for our necessity to study. And of course, we enjoy innumerous pranks and puns on our education system and our plight to study. No wonder, I am also one among you who enjoyed 3 idiots, cherished its essence and kept track of its song tracks, rather than the theme.

A simple encounter of mine with the workers of massive construction sites absolutely transfixed me. These people have been migrated (/ bought) from Orissa or other states, which are not well developed. These are the places which could not afford its entire people to be educated. And just for the sake of a livelihood, they work here almost as slaves to their unseen masters. Most of them are of our age and have not even completed primary education.

They don’t have the liberty to be educated or for proper food or lifestyle, though they are as entitled to it as we are. They have tasted only the bitterness of life, but we are frustrated to taste even the sweetness. I would often wonder before, the need to pass the Right for education bill. And now, I could empathize on its need, and know it’s not only a must to pass it, but to execute it.

Never before, the back page of a Classmate notebook meant so much to me.

“There are still millions who only dream of schools.”

THE NEW GIRL IN THE NEW SCHOOL

I apologize to that entire ‘Wake up Sid ‘fans for morphing the vital sentence of the movie. Well, I am sure you won’t fell bad at the end as I crossed the code of conduct. Yes, I represent the not so welcomed; preposterous bunches that enter every class, every year in every school. Yes, you are right. We are the ‘NEW ADMISSIONS’. And I take the pride of being a new admission thrice!! Though there are lots of friends who have a higher record of changing schools than mine, I take the vanity of making my clan proud. This article is just to let others know what they have missed in their life!!! DO THE NEW! · We have tasted ‘Ragging’ long before you! We have faced real time Rann Vijay’s and Raghu’s.(This obviously increase our immunity) · Our real friend list is really longer than your orkut/facebook ones. · We had been exposed to ‘THE CHANGE’ before Barack Obama showed it to you and we have changed too… · We shoot to overnight fame just by entering amidst the class. (Our publicity doubles if we top a small class test, triples if we have a small argument with the class leader, quadruples if we are beautiful/handsome!) · We get a delightful variety of astounding and astonishing nick names for which we’ll always be remembered for. · Our ability and probability to create and multiply enemies with the class toppers and their fraternity becomes an all time high and as time passes we become an expert at it. · And of course, our negotiating skills immensely increase as we make friends with all new faces. Thereby we are here to prove the Darwin’s bicentennial theorem, ’THE SURVIVAL OF THE ADAPTEST’. For all those who resist changing schools, take this note! Go ahead. You will find a whole new world ahead you. Explore and excavate! Enjoy the topples and tumbles!!You may be your tribe’s Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightly. Let out the adventurer in you! THE RESONANCE

George pushed his empty plate out of the table and lifted a cup of coffee to his lips.” What about the people who don’t measure up?”
“They are taped eventually and become our social scientists. Ingenescu is one. I am a registered psychotherapist. We are the second echelon to speak.”
George finished his coffee. He said,” I still wonder about one thing.”
“What is that?”
George threw aside the sheet and stood up. ”Why they call them Olympics?”

Adithi smiled. She swiftly closed the book. She looked around herself. it was completely dark, except for her table. She eased herself on her chair and slowly closed her eyes. Darkness surrounded again. Gradually images flew by inside her… Isaac Assimov… mammoth’s….. Suddenly there was a beep. She held up immediately to find that the power was gone. It was her UPS which held her up. She switched off her system and lay back on her couch. She started to reflect.
Adithi was in her holidays. She’s the hyperactive student of her clan. She’s the science kid of her college and considered to be a geek, though she’s not.
The clock struck one. She couldn’t sleep. Holidays were boring though she expected it much. All of a sudden it banged her mind. “Is this science fiction for real?””If not so, why the hell the market is flooded with these books?”” Will such things happen for real?”… “Am I gone crazy? Why do I question myself in midnight about such stuff?” Unknown to herself, she fell asleep.
The morning’s golden glow left her to feel the warmth of sun. She opened her eyes to see that a new day had broken. The sun’s rays fell on her like cuboids of brightness sliced by her window panes, so mystical which makes us feel new and fresh.
She took out her mobile kept beside to check out. ‘1 new message’ prompted it. She opened the message. It read “Good Morning.” It was from Sid. Her only friend and her best friend. As of now, he’s only a friend.
She replied him and went to brush. She slowly took the paste and placed it carefully on her brush. She had never been this slow. She thought about Sid. “How they became friends and how it continues even now” words spoken; gifts exchanged; moments enjoyed; moments fought; and… her untold love.
It bumped into her mind suddenly. The time when she and Sid planned to fly themselves to the “Paradise Island”. The one they got to know from a movie, up above our world. Above our mountains, above our clouds above our skyscrapers, lies a world enchanting, beautiful, mystical and super natural.
By constant to and fro motion the paste lost its power and sheen by now, and reminded Adithi to wash.
She did her daily works as soon as possible and sat before her computer system. She opened her internet browser prompting “Google” and typed “PARADISE ISLAND.” The page opened as spontaneous as the ripe apple would fall to the ground. Adithi concentrated on it carefully. The third link seemed different. It read,
The story of travel
The world up above and deep below.
The travel to reach the beyond.
www.travelstory.com
She clicked it to find a series of pages with details on science fiction and the expeditions tried out in real, since past ages. She eventually lost her interest and felt of getting some fresh air.
She took her bike and rode to the beach to find a lone place to sit alone. She felt as if the beach had cast a spell on her. She felt different. Her mobile beeped. There was a new message.
“Are you interested to explore the enigma?
To know the unknown?
To find the lost?
To know who I am??
Have your steps ahead!”
Adithi was puzzled and bewildered. How absurd this is! She tried to reply back. But it failed. She wished to forget it. But it kept pondering over her mind. Have your steps ahead!! Ahead!! It was only a ragging sea ahead of her!!! “Should I go inside the sea!” thought Adithi.
Only a few moments passed, she stood stiffly and walked swiftly into the sea. Hardly was it only a few steps from the world, the world she lived. She fell down. Deep under. It was like the fastest roller coaster. She screamed her best. But heard nowhere. As a miracle she didn’t suffocate. She didn’t know what to do. Her free fall gradually slew down and acceleration ceased abruptly. She heard a computer generated voice. “Velocity resonated” “velocity resonated” “velocity resonated.”
She was free. Free to move and walk, as if living on land. She gazed around. A complete, flaw-less, untouched world down under. She paced slowly. It was blue everywhere, far and wide, high and low; it was blue; ultramarine; turquoise. To her surprise she didn’t find any marine creatures. She wondered, if it’s a real sea.
As she moved, she felt an existence instinct. To her fascination she found a man at a distance. He was blonde; amazingly tall; light skinned.
As she advanced to him, he grinned and said,” Willkommen Sie. Ich bin Hugo Foerster.” “Danke. Ich bin Adithi”, replied Adithi. “Gut. You have known German, “he said. “Ein bisschen (a bit),” answered Adithi again.
Before he started to speak, Adithi asked, “It is you who messaged me, isn’t it?”
“Yes, I liked to have a visitor to my place. It’s been long. As like you, I was even bored,” He said calmly.
“This is ridiculous,” shouted Adithi. “Who are you? Why should I visit you?”
But he seemed calm and cool. He was well possessed and replied,” Look, not everyone could meet me. I liked you.”
Adithi inquired,” Well then, who are you?”
He just smirked.” I am from Germany. You are from India. But the place we are standing now in nowhere in the world.”
Adithi’s eyes enlarged and she was bewildered.
“I’m not a scientist, as you consider. I am the one like you, interested in exploring science the facts and myths.”
“So…” started Adithi. She felt something and bent down. She saw three dogs licking her feet.
“Dogs!!” she exclaimed.
“Yeah, they’re mine. I love dogs. So I got them with me,” said Hugo.
“While reading science fictions I read a lot about time travels. They were so real and factual. I could not believe it’s for myth. So went out to try every trick. And I found this! The one we are experiencing now.”
Adithi paid close attention. She corrected her spectacle.
“When the velocity of your motion, the gravitational pull and the upward thrust of the medium you’re moving resonates, you would be in the metaphysical state alienated to your world for a brief period”
“Is it? Then how is that you could stay here always??” cross examined Adithi.
“It’s not so. I am just an illusion of 8 nano lasers colliding at 360o to provide you with an optical image of myself. Even the dogs, the sense you felt, is because of controlled pressure application. Entire things here is self-programmed and engineered to answer you with my inbuilt search engines as your favorite Google,” told Hugo.
“Wow”, amazed Adithi.
“The integral reason to get you here is to prove science is not a fiction. Only fictions are written on science. Science fictions become reality only when people close their book and try out in real, than moaning in dreams!!” Hugo said emphatically.
“How did you know that it was me buzzing on it?” she investigated again.
“It was you, who googled it. I check out for people who search such stuff,” he posed with a cheeky grin.
Adithi smiled.
“Go on. Go to your world. Live your life; use your knowledge, serving science and world. And as a personal note, always make your intentions clear. Tell Sid about your love.” Said Hugo softly.
Adithi blushed, thinking of searching the Google for the best possible ways to propose love to a friend.
“But, I have a doubt.” said Adithi.
“How is it possible to create an illusion in a metaphysical or excited state??”
“I told that I am not a scientist, but not an inventor. An inventor never lets out his secrets”, grinned Hugo.
She smelled something annoying but well known. “Wake up, Adithi.” She heard her mom. Her dad cried, “Darling, wake up.” She heard her mom and dad cries all over and again.
She heard another voice too!
She opened her eyes. In a translucent glow, she saw her mom, dad and SID. He is here. She felt elated inside. She was in hospital. Her mom kissed her so hard as if kissing her for the first time. Her father was praying to god. Sid stood there silently seeing her. He had cried. She could see it from his face. Everyone blasted in tears, beaming with happiness.
Sid came close to her and went to her ears and whispered, “I was afraid I’d miss you. I can’t live without you, dear. I love you.”

For my dear brother!

I'm fortunate, and I'm glad
I got you for my brother;
Even if I had the chance,
