THE RESONANCE
George pushed his empty plate out of the table and lifted a cup of coffee to his lips.” What about the people who don’t measure up?”
“They are taped eventually and become our social scientists. Ingenescu is one. I am a registered psychotherapist. We are the second echelon to speak.”
George finished his coffee. He said,” I still wonder about one thing.”
“What is that?”
George threw aside the sheet and stood up. ”Why they call them Olympics?”
Adithi smiled. She swiftly closed the book. She looked around herself. it was completely dark, except for her table. She eased herself on her chair and slowly closed her eyes. Darkness surrounded again. Gradually images flew by inside her… Isaac Assimov… mammoth’s….. Suddenly there was a beep. She held up immediately to find that the power was gone. It was her UPS which held her up. She switched off her system and lay back on her couch. She started to reflect.
Adithi was in her holidays. She’s the hyperactive student of her clan. She’s the science kid of her college and considered to be a geek, though she’s not.
The clock struck one. She couldn’t sleep. Holidays were boring though she expected it much. All of a sudden it banged her mind. “Is this science fiction for real?””If not so, why the hell the market is flooded with these books?”” Will such things happen for real?”… “Am I gone crazy? Why do I question myself in midnight about such stuff?” Unknown to herself, she fell asleep.
The morning’s golden glow left her to feel the warmth of sun. She opened her eyes to see that a new day had broken. The sun’s rays fell on her like cuboids of brightness sliced by her window panes, so mystical which makes us feel new and fresh.
She took out her mobile kept beside to check out. ‘1 new message’ prompted it. She opened the message. It read “Good Morning.” It was from Sid. Her only friend and her best friend. As of now, he’s only a friend.
She replied him and went to brush. She slowly took the paste and placed it carefully on her brush. She had never been this slow. She thought about Sid. “How they became friends and how it continues even now” words spoken; gifts exchanged; moments enjoyed; moments fought; and… her untold love.
It bumped into her mind suddenly. The time when she and Sid planned to fly themselves to the “Paradise Island”. The one they got to know from a movie, up above our world. Above our mountains, above our clouds above our skyscrapers, lies a world enchanting, beautiful, mystical and super natural.
By constant to and fro motion the paste lost its power and sheen by now, and reminded Adithi to wash.
She did her daily works as soon as possible and sat before her computer system. She opened her internet browser prompting “Google” and typed “PARADISE ISLAND.” The page opened as spontaneous as the ripe apple would fall to the ground. Adithi concentrated on it carefully. The third link seemed different. It read,
The story of travel
The world up above and deep below.
The travel to reach the beyond.
www.travelstory.com
She clicked it to find a series of pages with details on science fiction and the expeditions tried out in real, since past ages. She eventually lost her interest and felt of getting some fresh air.
She took her bike and rode to the beach to find a lone place to sit alone. She felt as if the beach had cast a spell on her. She felt different. Her mobile beeped. There was a new message.
“Are you interested to explore the enigma?
To know the unknown?
To find the lost?
To know who I am??
Have your steps ahead!”
Adithi was puzzled and bewildered. How absurd this is! She tried to reply back. But it failed. She wished to forget it. But it kept pondering over her mind. Have your steps ahead!! Ahead!! It was only a ragging sea ahead of her!!! “Should I go inside the sea!” thought Adithi.
Only a few moments passed, she stood stiffly and walked swiftly into the sea. Hardly was it only a few steps from the world, the world she lived. She fell down. Deep under. It was like the fastest roller coaster. She screamed her best. But heard nowhere. As a miracle she didn’t suffocate. She didn’t know what to do. Her free fall gradually slew down and acceleration ceased abruptly. She heard a computer generated voice. “Velocity resonated” “velocity resonated” “velocity resonated.”
She was free. Free to move and walk, as if living on land. She gazed around. A complete, flaw-less, untouched world down under. She paced slowly. It was blue everywhere, far and wide, high and low; it was blue; ultramarine; turquoise. To her surprise she didn’t find any marine creatures. She wondered, if it’s a real sea.
As she moved, she felt an existence instinct. To her fascination she found a man at a distance. He was blonde; amazingly tall; light skinned.
As she advanced to him, he grinned and said,” Willkommen Sie. Ich bin Hugo Foerster.” “Danke. Ich bin Adithi”, replied Adithi. “Gut. You have known German, “he said. “Ein bisschen (a bit),” answered Adithi again.
Before he started to speak, Adithi asked, “It is you who messaged me, isn’t it?”
“Yes, I liked to have a visitor to my place. It’s been long. As like you, I was even bored,” He said calmly.
“This is ridiculous,” shouted Adithi. “Who are you? Why should I visit you?”
But he seemed calm and cool. He was well possessed and replied,” Look, not everyone could meet me. I liked you.”
Adithi inquired,” Well then, who are you?”
He just smirked.” I am from Germany. You are from India. But the place we are standing now in nowhere in the world.”
Adithi’s eyes enlarged and she was bewildered.
“I’m not a scientist, as you consider. I am the one like you, interested in exploring science the facts and myths.”
“So…” started Adithi. She felt something and bent down. She saw three dogs licking her feet.
“Dogs!!” she exclaimed.
“Yeah, they’re mine. I love dogs. So I got them with me,” said Hugo.
“While reading science fictions I read a lot about time travels. They were so real and factual. I could not believe it’s for myth. So went out to try every trick. And I found this! The one we are experiencing now.”
Adithi paid close attention. She corrected her spectacle.
“When the velocity of your motion, the gravitational pull and the upward thrust of the medium you’re moving resonates, you would be in the metaphysical state alienated to your world for a brief period”
“Is it? Then how is that you could stay here always??” cross examined Adithi.
“It’s not so. I am just an illusion of 8 nano lasers colliding at 360o to provide you with an optical image of myself. Even the dogs, the sense you felt, is because of controlled pressure application. Entire things here is self-programmed and engineered to answer you with my inbuilt search engines as your favorite Google,” told Hugo.
“Wow”, amazed Adithi.
“The integral reason to get you here is to prove science is not a fiction. Only fictions are written on science. Science fictions become reality only when people close their book and try out in real, than moaning in dreams!!” Hugo said emphatically.
“How did you know that it was me buzzing on it?” she investigated again.
“It was you, who googled it. I check out for people who search such stuff,” he posed with a cheeky grin.
Adithi smiled.
“Go on. Go to your world. Live your life; use your knowledge, serving science and world. And as a personal note, always make your intentions clear. Tell Sid about your love.” Said Hugo softly.
Adithi blushed, thinking of searching the Google for the best possible ways to propose love to a friend.
“But, I have a doubt.” said Adithi.
“How is it possible to create an illusion in a metaphysical or excited state??”
“I told that I am not a scientist, but not an inventor. An inventor never lets out his secrets”, grinned Hugo.
She smelled something annoying but well known. “Wake up, Adithi.” She heard her mom. Her dad cried, “Darling, wake up.” She heard her mom and dad cries all over and again.
She heard another voice too!
She opened her eyes. In a translucent glow, she saw her mom, dad and SID. He is here. She felt elated inside. She was in hospital. Her mom kissed her so hard as if kissing her for the first time. Her father was praying to god. Sid stood there silently seeing her. He had cried. She could see it from his face. Everyone blasted in tears, beaming with happiness.
Sid came close to her and went to her ears and whispered, “I was afraid I’d miss you. I can’t live without you, dear. I love you.”
