“What’s your aim in life?” When popped with this question since fifth grade, our answers were of delightful varieties. It was obvious that our class toppers answered as “IAS officers” and the others as doctors, engineers, software professionals, VJ’s and RJ’s (Youngistaans!!).
But are these that we really take up in life??? Irrespective of our passion, ability and interest we land up in different careers, decided by our society. The best minds of CBSE and State Board mostly get settled in IIT, AIIMS and Anna University, MMC respectively.
It is pathetic to accept that we indeed panic to pursue our passion. Once Mr. N.R.Narayana Murthy said, “Don’t be an engineer, just because you have a degree in engineering. Do what you are good at. And you‘ll be good at what you think.”
“So… what happens after we graduate?” I think this is one of the most common questions among world’s youth today. And, we DECIDE.
But little we know about the impact of our decision. In fact this is the decision which not only affects our SELF, but also the fundamental part of how our society (the reality which influenced our decision), economy and development system works. I bet you really haven’t thought about that.
What’s really amazing is that we don’t know anything about how our value and development system works. And it’s quite astonishing that our education system doesn’t give us a chance, to even think in this dimension.
It’s not only great, its our duty and right to know how development is really the sum of our lives, like the ones of students like us, who is benefiting from these educational programs. Better quality of life can be achieved at a massive level in our countries by shaping our lives in a better way. Let’s know that joining defense is not the only way to work for our nation. (Even using our mobike’s less does a great deal!!)
Whether our way is ‘Road less traveled’ or ‘Road most traveled’ we can call it our day, only when our decision to life is long sighted. Because it’s our choice which is going to affect our club and community. Only then, our next generation wont give the goosey answers when questioned, what we were questioned.
So…. Let’s make sure, for SUCCESS - attitude is equally important as ability.
