Do we still need nature??

‘It was a single step for man, but a giant leap for mankind”, were those historic words. But small steps mean smaller footprints in the context of global warming.

What we see depends on where we are. Many of us do not understand the real threat because of standing at the wrong place. It’s hard to know what we are looking at, until we step away and see the bigger picture.

Our planet has to be and admired, adored, desired, liked, enjoyed, played with, loved.
But we had used, destroyed, ravaged, and devastated her.

Will she be available for our children?
Our children’s children?

Nature provides inspiration, not only to biologists, but also to millions of naturalists, explorers, painters, photographers, writers, poets and musicians. After Aldus Huxley read Rachel Carlson’s “Silent Spring”( about the loss of songbirds due to DDT), his comment was that “we are losing half the subject matter of poetry”.

We do not know what our value systems will be in future, or what the value systems of our successors will be. Perhaps they will need vast quantities of some species that we now consider insignificant or even harmful. Nobody could have predicted that a bread mould be a source of antibiotics; that armadillos would be the only experimental animal to be infected by leprosy. So is the nature.

As Al Gore rightly claimed to us to think globally and act locally. Our generation is not the first generation to do damage to the planet, but we are the first to realize the extent of the problem. We are the one who really became aware of the fact that the human population is causing irreparable damage to the planet -to the air, water, soil, biological resources.

We still consider global warming as yet another topic for public speaking. But global warming is real. Glaciers melt; ozone hole gets big, Tigers, Pandas, Rhinos(list goes on) follows Dodo; pollution increase! On the whole the effects are drastic.

Our invisible and innumerable activities are questioning ourselves against survival?? We don’t have to wait until the day after tomorrow.

Now let’s take your turn;
Plant a tree, have our say for global warming,
Save earth and save ourselves,
Come what may, she’s always ours!!

We have to take a step back and a step up from where we are. The neighborhood
may look the same, but if we can see the entire planet and the damage that has been
done in the last one hundred years, the changes that have occurred will be very clear.
Global warming is not about point of view. It’s about survival.

SPIRIT'S DREAM!

Simple was the day,
Sizzling was the rain,
It was you on your way;
When you won,
We, the world called it your day!
Your smile beheld me,
Your shots bewildered me,
Your play bewitched me,
It’s not just grand slams you mean to me,
My beloved;
It was the day you and your world yearned for,
So, is the day I’m glad for.
Our birthday, by the way,
The day we share is the one I look for.
Roger,
I like you very much,
And,
You’re my dream ever and forever...

So… What happens after I graduate??

“What’s your aim in life?” When popped with this question since fifth grade, our answers were of delightful varieties. It was obvious that our class toppers answered as “IAS officers” and the others as doctors, engineers, software professionals, VJ’s and RJ’s (Youngistaans!!).

But are these that we really take up in life??? Irrespective of our passion, ability and interest we land up in different careers, decided by our society. The best minds of CBSE and State Board mostly get settled in IIT, AIIMS and Anna University, MMC respectively.

It is pathetic to accept that we indeed panic to pursue our passion. Once Mr. N.R.Narayana Murthy said, “Don’t be an engineer, just because you have a degree in engineering. Do what you are good at. And you‘ll be good at what you think.”

“So… what happens after we graduate?” I think this is one of the most common questions among world’s youth today. And, we DECIDE.

But little we know about the impact of our decision. In fact this is the decision which not only affects our SELF, but also the fundamental part of how our society (the reality which influenced our decision), economy and development system works. I bet you really haven’t thought about that.

What’s really amazing is that we don’t know anything about how our value and development system works. And it’s quite astonishing that our education system doesn’t give us a chance, to even think in this dimension.

It’s not only great, its our duty and right to know how development is really the sum of our lives, like the ones of students like us, who is benefiting from these educational programs. Better quality of life can be achieved at a massive level in our countries by shaping our lives in a better way. Let’s know that joining defense is not the only way to work for our nation. (Even using our mobike’s less does a great deal!!)

Whether our way is ‘Road less traveled’ or ‘Road most traveled’ we can call it our day, only when our decision to life is long sighted. Because it’s our choice which is going to affect our club and community. Only then, our next generation wont give the goosey answers when questioned, what we were questioned.

So…. Let’s make sure, for SUCCESS - attitude is equally important as ability.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE!!!

If the clogged table is the sign of clogged mind,

What is the bare table is the sign of??

-Albert Einstein.

As a unique and priceless example of complete chaos, this room has been declared as ‘National Hysteric sight’ and awarded,

“ The Messiest Room in the World.”

This note welcomes you into my room. It lets you to adore my self-made wonder.

This is the reason for which our parents, relatives, well wishers or anyone (whoever have a partial remembrance of their room) jumps into the scene. Well, they give you a delightful variety of advice, ‘Why is your room like this?’ ‘How will you study here?’ ‘I wonder how you are going to live your life.’ Of course, everyone have their own degree of advice no matter what they do.

Post examinations, the cleanliness, neatness, organization (or any abstract noun which could be dealt here) is of our main concern. This goes to any youngster irrespective of being in college or in school.

Thousands are the times, when we make our mind to keep our room neat. Any resolution, be it new year or our birthday, nothing works out here. Moreover, success is sweet only when it overcomes challenges. Same applies to searching an important paper, assignment, library book before starting to class in our own established room.

Arranging and organizing our room regularly is tough though. And the people who achieve it are indeed sacred souls. And we should make sure that these sacred people don’t reside our next doors or be our cousins or in anyway acquainted to our parents. Or else our probability of getting into trouble is directly proportional to square of the neatness of his/her room!!!

This is the mission which everyone could not accomplish. Not everyone become Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise).Until then no part of this room would be rearranged, removed or reorganized so that future generations would enjoy this breathtaking wonder!!!
